School's Out!

The last day of school was the Friday before Memorial Day.  Will had already been out for a week and was bored as heck and ready for Mae to be home.  We picked up Mae and hung out in her classroom while the last details were taken care of.  Mae was thrilled to be finished with 2nd Grade!  Will was still sulking and missing school.

Mae survived having 3 teachers this year.  Her first teacher switched schools after 1 week.  Then, they had a permanent substitute until the end of the first term.  Then, FINALLY Mrs. Garn came to save the day.

Mae has LOVED Mrs. Garn.  Its funny because she is from Grantsville and was in my brother, Eddie's, grade growing up.  She would always talk to Mae about Grantsville and people she knows.  One time they were reading a word problem that had the name Eddie in it and she inserted, "Mae's Uncle Eddie" instead.  She made Mae feel very special and loved.  Mae was a little obsessed with her.  She truly idolized everything she did and said throughout the year.  I think Mae even picked up a little bit of her spunk/attitude. She was attentive and really showed Mae how much she loved her.  It was such a wonderful year for Mae.  She has grown up so much!

The day before school was out, Will and I helped with Field Day.  It was a fun day and Will fit right in with the 2nd graders-- he's a big boy.  Unfortunately throughout the day Mae developed a bad rash.  We found out she had "5th Disease" which is pretty much just a rash and a cold.  She hasn't feel too hot on field day :(

School was out and we were ready to celebrate!  Epic & The Crudes were showing at our local Drive-In.  Apparently its one of the last drives ins around.  It is so fun to go to.  We took lots of snacks, sodas, donuts, chairs, blankets and pillows.  We met some friends there.  We borrowed my parents' truck and made a big bed in it.  It was so much fun.

Of course within 45 minutes of the movie I was dead asleep.  Even my Dr. Pepper couldn't keep me awake.  It was a fun family night though and a great way to start off the summer!
